Minimum Qualifications
Non-competitive: Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited law school.
Preferred Courses: Criminal Law; Criminal Procedures; Trial Advocacy; Trial Practice; Introduction to Government; Evidence.

Duties
- Reviewing and analyzing documentation for preparation for investigations and prosecutions both under Federal and NYS criminal procedure law.
- Assist in drafting memos and conducting legal research regarding the various issues that arise in criminal investigations and prosecutions
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in legal research
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills to manage a varied and heavy workload in a timely fashion
- Degree of proficiency in Word, LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Interest in one or more of the following areas: criminal law, white collar crime, and forensic accounting.

Telecommuting
The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
